CRC & SBS

Well done to the neighbours’ children in the Senior Boys’ School who held a hugely successful carol service today. The preparation was extensive and the output of a very very high standard- boys with good voices led by teachers with individual and collective gifts and facilitated by an empowering Principal and Board yielded a very powerful and moving service.

Which brings me nicely to our neighbours to the north, the boys and girls- indeed young men and women- of the much-maligned Central Remedial Clinic. Each year, Ann Jackson, the Principal of the School issues an invite to her neighbouring colleagues to their Christmas concert. This year, it was more important than in previous years for that School’s staff to show resilience in the face on recent bad publicity attaching to those with a tenuous connection at best to the School and its activities.

Their show was the essence of inclusion- from solo singers to percussionists, each person performed. It was a most moving experience and a privilege to be present. I am certain that it was a triumph of resilience for the staff and the pupils to stage such a show.

It distinguishes the CRC as  a special special school.
