Nuacht an Lae

  • First of all congratulations to the Foireann peile na mBan from the Senior Girls school who prevailed in their final in Croke Park yesterday. Rinne sibh gaisce!!
  • Scooters: I still have three in my office. Two blue micro brand and one black. The black has two tippex initials on the chassis. These are expensive items and while we may have lost a few to theft, I suspect that some are just taken by mistake. So to avoid this can every Parent clearly label each bike and scooter with permanent marker and a secret notch or code of which only they are aware.
  • Thank you to Patsy Hethereton who accompanied Stephen and Jack McCaffrey during their visit to all four schools recently. Patsy  took photographs of Jack with each class in all four schools and organised copies for each boy- he should have his in the bag this evening. Míle buiochas Patsy.
  • Website uploads: Photographs of Hallowe’en, nature walks in the School, Maths Week, a visit by a Masai warrior to Room 3 (not as part of a behaviour modification strategy!!!). Thanks to Porter family for facilitating this. As always, if there is an event, achievement, pet or person in your family who would make for an interesting show and tell item, do please let your son’s teacher know.

Referendum in Room 10

  • Room 10 recently held a full-blown referendum on the topic of “whether we would change one school rule to allow running”. 5 politicians emerged to speak for the motion and 5 against. Ms. Kelly and the boys made a ballot box and prepared ballot papers. Michael Martin, a man with vast experience in the black arts of electioneering, was an impartial returning officer. In the event, the proponents of the motion won by a huge margin- 21 to 7 …..with not one spoiled vote!!!!!!!
